Last year, I spent my birthday in Joshua Tree National Park. For my birthday this year, all I really wanted was to wake up in Yosemite on my actual birthday. I've always wanted to see if I could pull off an overnight trip to Yosemite, and while it sounded like a crazy idea at first, I'm so thankful that I have equally crazy co-workers who were down for the adventure. So we all took two days off of work and headed towards one of the most breathtaking landscapes that California has to offer.

The trip started early with us taking the more scenic route up to Yosemite. Nothing beats being able to watch the sunrise while on the road and seeing the colors come alive as the sun starts hitting the mountains.

After a few hours of driving, we took a detour to June Lake in hopes to see the fall colors. Sad to say though that most of the leaves had already fallen by the time we go there. However, the lake was still a sight to behold.

After a few more hours on the road, we finally made it to Yosemite! To our surprise, we were actually able to find the fall colors we were looking for inside the park. We found this area with tons of fall leaves along the side of the road and decided that it was the best place for us to eat lunch and have our mini-photoshoot afterwards.

And yes, we brought dresses and put in them on in the cold.

Anything for the shot.

One successful photoshoot later and we finally made our way to the valley where our campsite was. This was where we actually got to see our first real glances of the wonder that Yosemite is and seeing all the granite mountains surrounding us was breathtaking.

After setting up camp, we took a short hike to Mirror Lake. The lake was mostly dried up but the scenery around it was still very beautiful, nonetheless.

After our hike, we came back to camp for the most awaited moment of our trip- dinner! We had Korean BBQ complete with rice and banchan.. and my friends even surprised me with a cake from the bakery we stopped by earlier.

This was definitely one of the best meals I've ever had in the middle of the woods and all a girl could really ask for on her birthday. :')

When dinner was done, we spent the rest of the night sharing stories around the campfire until it was time for bed.

The next day was my actual birthday and it was so surreal to me that my wish of waking up in one of the most beautiful places in the world actually came true.

After eating breakfast, we packed up camp and stopped by Glacier Point before heading home.

And that's the end to our very short but sweet Yosemite adventure! I still can't believe that we pulled this off considering that we all had work the following day. We actually had a lot of mishaps happen along the way but I always think that those are the things that makes the adventure worthwhile, especially when you're with the right people.

Can't wait to see which National Park I'll be visiting for my next birthday! :)
